Giving Back
What immediately stood out to me in Isaiah 50:4-9, is the discipline and compassion in the face of oppression, made clear in verse 6. “I gave my back to those who struck me … and my cheeks to those who pulled out the beard;” A public beating to show force was received by a response of discipline, trust and confidence in the Lord. The “suffering servant” who gives all of himself, endures the ultimate hardship and demonstrates humility, obedience and an unwavering trust. I believe this is a call to action towards resilience. For me, personally, it is a challenge to live in compassion … in heart and action.
Heavenly Father, thank you for the challenge to seek and channel our compassion and wisdom. Your son, the Suffering Servant, died so that we may be saved. Amen.
